Victim's Daughter Denounces State Inaction in Fentanyl Case

Buenos Aires, Dec. 1 (NA) – The daughter of a victim of adulterated fentanyl stated that the tragedy had “very little impact on society” and denounced that “the State did not get involved.” Carla Maino, whose father died in April due to the contaminated opioid, spoke with LT3 AM680 Rosario in an interview obtained by the Argentine News Agency. She explained that she is part of a group that maintains contact with victims from La Plata and Córdoba. The woman, who participated this Monday in a “march against silence,” expressed her anger and pain over the lack of response from the authorities: “The State has not gotten involved, this had very little impact on society and the State, even though the Special Commission in the Chamber of Deputies intervened.” Maino emphasized that exposure to adulterated medications affects everyone, both in public and private health, and that the official figure of 174 fatal victims could be double due to a “black figure” of unreported cases. Additionally, she confirmed that next Tuesday, December 16th at 6 PM, a new demonstration will be held at the National Monument to the Flag, aiming to demand justice for the victims and a call to society, as it “is something that could have affected anyone.” Regarding the Investigative Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, chaired by Deputy Mónica Fein, Maino considered it “very interesting” and highlighted the imminent presentation of its final report.
